CIC - Certified Insurance Counselor
CIC is recognized throughout the industry as the premier designation for insurance professionals. The National Alliance sponsors this title.
CPCU - Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter
The CPCU designation is highly respected throughout the industry as the most comprehensive property-casualty achievement available.
AAI - Accredited Adviser in Insurance
This designation was designed by The Insurance Institute of America to train professionals in risk management advisory.
CLCS - Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist
Created by The National Underwriter Co., this is the industry's only coverage-specific designation. Designees have demonstrated extensive knowledge in commercial lines coverage.
CBIA - Certified Builders Insurance Agent
This designation, offered through Builders Mutual Insurance Co., was designed to train agents in risk management skills - specifically for the home/commercial building industry.
CISR - Certified Insurance Service Representative
A CISR has been trained to analyze risks and fully understand coverages and exposures. This designation is achieved through The National Alliance.
AIT - Associate in Information Technology
The Insurance Institutes of America developed the AIT program with the purpose of bridging the gap between insurance professionals and IT professionals.
CRIS - Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist
The insurance needs of contractors are quite complex, and insurance generalists frequently make errors in designing programs for their clients. Thus, the CRIS program was developed by IRMI in response to concerns expressed by many contractors about the difficulty of determining whether their insurance agents, brokers, and other risk advisers had the specialized knowledge necessary to properly design and arrange their insurance programs.
